With the holidays right around the corner, no doubt several pick up truck aficionados will have the new Tesla Cybertruck on their wish lists. Tesla introduced its new vehicle last month at its Design Studio near Los Angeles, California. Audience members were awed by its stealth fighter shape and sleek “spaceship” appearance.
The Cybertruck is a fully powered pickup truck that runs entirely on electricity. Backed with the same quality guarantee from Tesla for its vehicle’s battery life but with the enhanced capability to help accomplish all of life’s errands. This is a bold move to illustrate the potential for alternative energy to fulfill our transportation energy needs.
Tesla is promoting their newest release as “Better utility than a truck with more performance than a sports car.” What does this reasonably priced space-ship looking vehicle get you?
Tesla’s Cybertruck ranges from $40,000 to $70,000 depending on the model, or add another $7,000 if you prefer to have full self-driving features (when they become available, of course!).
Tesla claims that its new electric pickup truck has more than enough power. Not only can the Cybertruck accelerate from 0-60 MPH in only 6.5 seconds, but it can also tow 7,500-14,000 pounds depending on the model. The lowest capacity Cybertruck is very similar to Ford’s 3.3 Liter V-6 F-150 trucks that have a maximum tow rating of 7,700 pounds.
The range for this electric vehicle is between 250 miles for a single motor model and up to 500+ for a tri-motor model. The bed of the truck is not immediately obvious when you first glance at the vehicle, but it’s there and ready to carry 3,500 pounds of material.
Even if your Santa is generous enough to fulfill this request on your holiday list, you will have to wait to open your gift. Their single and dual-motor versions are anticipated to hit the production line in late 2021, and the most powerful version, the tri-motor model, will be introduced in 2022. Demand is anticipated to be strong, so for a $100 deposit, enthusiastic buyers can pre-order their Cybertruck from Tesla already.
